Sony Xperia Z4v To Arrive In USA Exclusively On Verizon

Back in April, Sony took the wraps off the Xperia Z4 as a kind of exclusive device to Japanese carriers. For all practical purposes, this “Z4″ was an incremental upgrade over the Z3, as it did not offer many reasons to upgrade from the last years flagship. Sony realized this apparently, as the same device was subsequently launched as the Xperia Z3+ for the European market.

In an effort to increase market presence in the USA, Sony has launched the Xperia Z4v as a Verizon Wireless Exclusive. But thankfully, the Z4v marks a more prominent jump, offering some more reasons to upgrade.

The Xperia Z4v follows along the same design principles as all the phones in the Xperia Z flagship lineup. As an upgrade over the Z3+/Japanese Z4, the Z4v comes along with a 5.2″ Triluminos QHD 2560×1440 display as against the FHD display on the Z3+/Japanese Z4. The body of the device is a bit larger and the device weighs more than the Z3+ as it incorporates a bigger 3,000 mAh battery. There is also wireless charging present, something which was missing on the Z3+. For the rest, the device is the same as the Z3+, housing the same, infamous Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage with micro sd card support. There’s also the 20.7MP rear snapper to appease to the photography conscious.

The Xperia Z4v will be available on Verizon in the coming summer in black and white color options. Pricing info was however not released.

All in all, the Z4v makes for an interesting device featuring a better screen on the Snapdragon 810. It wouldn’t surprise us if the resultant screen upgrade leads to some more heating on top of what the Snapdragon 810 already does. Add to this Verizon’s insistence on adding bloatware and the general lack of custom rom support for such locked down carrier devices, and you end up with a hot device which can’t be helped.
