Data Broker Experian Hacked

Global information service company Experian has reported an unauthorized acquisition of customer data. The breach occurred September 15th, 2015 on a server that contained data regarding T-Mobile USA, an Experian customer. The data acquired includes some personally identifiable information for 15 million consumers in the US. More specifically, consumers who applied for T-Mobile USA postpaid service from September 1, 2013, through till September, 2015.

As soon as the incident was detected, Experian notified law enforcement and began a comprehensive investigation. Still, the culprit was able to acquire information such as: Social Security numbers, Names, Dates, Addresses, and more. No payment information was compromised.

At this moment, they claim there is no evidence any information has been used inappropriately. However, Experian is in the process of contacting people who may have been affected. Experian will be providing complimentary credit monitoring services and identity protection services. Anyone concerned about their data who has not been contacted by November 30, 2015 is encouraged to visit Experian.com to learn about these services.
